Adding Multiple SANsymphony Server Groups to vCenter
This guide outlines the manual process of adding multiple SANsymphony server groups to vCenter. The process involves installing and registering the DataCore Plug-in (vCenter plug-in) for each SANsymphony server group. Additionally, users can customize the name of the registered DataCore Plug-in to easily distinguish between server groups.
Customize the DataCore Plug-in Name
See Installing the DataCore Plug-in and Registering the DataCore Plug-in documentation to install and register the DataCore Plug-in.
During the registration, the default DataCore Plug-in name will be displayed as DataCore SANsymphony.
To help distinguish between multiple SANsymphony server groups, the user can customize the plugin name using the Set-VcpFriendlyName.ps1 script by following the below steps:
-
Open the C:\Program Files\DataCore\Rest folder.
-
Execute the Set-VcpFriendlyName.ps1 script with PowerShell.
-
When prompted, provide a new custom DataCore Plug-in name that will be displayed in vCenter for this SANsymphony server group. For example, the user can name the DataCore Plug-in after the server group (e.g., SSY-Group1, SSY-Group2).
-
Once the user has set the custom name, the new DataCore Plug-in name will appear in vCenter under the Plugins section.
If the user has already registered the DataCore Plug-in, they may need to unregister the DataCore Plug-in, execute the automation script, and then re-register the DataCore Plug-in to observe the changes in the DataCore Plug-inname.
By following the above steps, you can successfully add multiple SANsymphony server groups to vCenter and customize the DataCore Plug-in names. This will assist in distinguishing between the various server groups in the vCenter plug-in registered under different names. This ensures efficient management of multiple server groups within the same vCenter environment.
