About DataCore disks
When a virtual disk is created and then served to a DataCore Server in the same server group, it is automatically discovered as a special type of physical disk referred to as a DataCore disk and can be used as storage. DataCore disks retain the original virtual disk name and appear in the DataCore Servers panel under DataCore disks for the server to which it is served. (Note: If the same virtual disk is served to a DataCore Server in a different server group, it is discovered as a DataCore Virtual Disk and will appear under Physical Disks in the panel.)
See Serving Virtual Disks for special notes about serving virtual disks to DataCore Servers.
DataCore disks can be added to disk pools as long as the pool does not belong to a server that created the source virtual disk. For instance, if a mirrored virtual disk is created using storage sources from Server1 and Server2. That virtual disk could be served to Server3, discovered as a DataCore disk and added to a pool on Server3 (but not on Server1 or Server2).
DataCore disks are also listed in the DataCore Server Details page>DataCore disks tab.
Viewing DataCore disk Details
Each DataCore disk has a DataCore Disk Details page with detailed information for the disk.
The details page displays the following information at the top of the page:
- Status is displayed under the icon. See Physical Disk Status for more information.
- Possible types include:
- Basic
- Dynamic
- Uninitialized
- Pool (if added to a pool)
- Pass-through (if used in a virtual disk)
- MirrorDisk (if used as a pool disk mirror)
- Unknown
- Size
- Sector size
- Name of the source virtual disk.
- The DataCore disk name can be changed by clicking Edit at the top of the page. After the change is made, click Done.
To open the details page:
