DataCore Server states

Server group states

DataCore Server States

The state is displayed in:

  • The DataCore Server Details page and Partner Server Details page under the server icon
  • The Task Details page>DataCore Servers tab

Possible states:

  • Running: the server is active and virtualization is running.
  • Stopped: the server is not active and virtualization is stopped.
  • Unavailable: unable to communicate with the server because the DataCore Executive service (Dcsx.exe) is stopped, the server is down, or there is a network issue.
  • Failed: the server has shutdown or crashed without completing the stop virtualization process, i.e., the drivers were active when the machine crashed or was powered off.

Write Caching States

The state is displayed in the DataCore Server Details page>Info tab.

Possible states:

  • Enabled – the server is in write caching mode. When write caching is enabled, write operations are recorded in the cache first and an acknowledgment is immediately sent back to the operating system confirming the operation before the write operation is written to physical disk.
  • Disabled – the server is in not in write caching mode. All write operations from hosts are written directly to the back-end storage and then acknowledged.
  • Unknown – the status is unknown because the server is unable to communicate because the DataCore Executive service (Dcsx.exe) is stopped, the server is down, or there is a network issue.

Server Group States

The state is displayed in:

  • The Task Details page and Replication Group Details page under the server group icon

Possible states:

  • Available: communication with the server group is established.
  • Unavailable: unable to communicate with the server group because the DataCore Executive service (Dcsx.exe) is stopped, the server is down, or there is a network issue.
  • Invalid: the server name is wrong.
