Manage Physical Storage

  1. In the navigation panel, click Prepare & Provide Storage to expand the task options.

  2. Click Manage Physical Storage.
  3. On this page, you can:

    • View the disk pools present in the server group.
    • View the pool type:
      • Standard: A pool containing disks from one server that is managed by that server.
      • Simple shared: A pool containing disks that are accessible by multiple servers. One server, the active server, manages the pool. The others are passive servers which do not manage the pool, but can become the active server. Sometimes this is called a “non-SMPA” pool. See "Characteristics of a Non-SMPA Pool" in Shared Multi-Port Array Support in the DataCore SANsymphony Help.
      • Shared SMPA: A pool containing only SMPA-approved disks that are accessible by multiple servers. All of these servers manage parts of the pool at the same time. See Create Shared SMPA Pool for more information.
    • View how many and which servers are managing the pools by clicking on the arrow in the Server column. For simple and SMPA pools, the number of servers is shown. For SMPA pools, a list of all servers is shown; for simple shared pools, the active server and passive servers are shown.

    • View the physical disks associated with a disk pool by clicking on the arrow to the left of its name. Any disks that can be shared among servers will be marked as "Shared".
    • View the number of unassigned physical disks.
    • View the contextual help by hovering over or tapping the Information icon.
