Installing the DataCore Windows Integration Kit

The DataCore Windows Integration Kit provides the necessary drivers and tools that enable a Windows host to connect to and interact with DataCore SANsymphony storage servers. This component should be installed on all Windows hosts that access virtual disks served by DataCore. The following section outlines important installation notes, prerequisites, and the procedure to install the kit.

Installation Notes
Before installing the DataCore Windows Integration Kit, review the following guidelines:
- A restart of the host will be required after the installation.
- Do not install the DataCore Windows Integration Kit on servers running DataCore SANsymphony software.
- Do not install the DataCore Windows Integration Kit on hosts connected to DataCore Servers running DataCore SANsymphony versions earlier than 10 PSP16.
- Do not install the DataCore Windows Integration Kit 4.1.6 on Windows Server 2012 R2 or earlier.
- Always install the DataCore Windows Integration Kit on the host before serving virtual disks to it.
Installing the DataCore Windows Integration Kit
The Windows host should always have the most up-to-date “root certificates” (used for verifying signed drivers). If you have any problems installing the DataCore Windows Integration Kit because of unknown or expired digital certificates, download and install the most recent “DigiCert Assured ID Root CA” from External.DigiCert Trusted Root Authority Certificates.
To install the DataCore Windows Integration Kit:
- Copy the DataCore Windows Integration Kit installer locally on each host.
- Do one of the following:
- Run the executable directly on the host, or
- Install it using the Smart Deployment Wizard on one of the DataCore Servers.
- Restart the host after installation completes.
