What's New in this Release
The DataCore Plug-in for VMware vSphere 3.2 includes the following new features and enhancements:
- DataCore Plug-in workflows for creating and serving storage to the ESXi hosts have been updated to support use of Virtual Disk Templates. The Virtual Disk Templates give administrators greater control over the characteristics and behavior of the storage that is being served to the ESXi hosts. These templates can specify the SANsymphony Disk Pools, from which storage is to be allocated, deduplication and encryption modes, disk mirroring, and default snapshot Disk Pool. DataCore Plug-in workflows for creating and serving Virtual Disks and VMFS Datastores have also been updated to support the optional use of Virtual Disk Templates.
- The minimum allowable Virtual Disk size for Virtual Disk Templates created using the DataCore Plug-in has been changed from 1 GB to 2 GB. This does not apply to the templates created by the vCenter Management Console.
- DataCore Plug-in workflow for serving existing Virtual Disks to the ESXi hosts has been updated to enable selection of multiple Virtual Disks and ESXi hosts. This will enable the administrators to serve SANsymphony storage to groups of ESXi hosts in bulk.
- DataCore Plug-in User Interface (UI), where ESXi hosts are listed, has been updated to display the VMware Datacenter and Cluster that the host belongs to. This will help simplify grouping and selection for the administrators. For example, the workflow for serving storage allows the administrators to sort and filter ESXi hosts by Datacenter and Cluster.
- The "Add Capacity to Datastore" option in the Datastores has been modified to input the target capacity. The target capacity will be the new size of the datastore. The target capacity input value should be greater than the original size of the datastore.
- Several bug fixes and performance improvements have been incorporated.
