The SMB protocol version is auto negotiated by the SMB client and typically this does not need any management. DataCore vFilO highly recommends using SMB versions 2 and above for Microsoft Windows SMB and Apple MacOS.

Hidden Shares

To create hidden SMB shares and aliases, add $ at the end of the name of the share when creating the share. This will hide the share when browsing the network.

Hidden shares are alternatively referred to as Administrative shares.
