Installing DataCore SANsymphony Software
Installation Method Recommendations
It is highly recommended to install the SANsymphony product using one of the guided installation methods to ensure the highest deployment quality and end-user satisfaction. For more information about the guided methods, see DataCore Deployment Wizard Overview and Installing Software Using the Wizard.
For Bare Metal Installations and Hyper-Converged Infrastructure (HCI) Deployments:

For deployments other than VMware and Hyper-V, it is highly recommended to use the SANsymphony Wizard (also known as the Smart Deployment Wizard or SDW).

For VMware HCI deployments, it is highly recommended to use the DataCore Installation Manager for vSphere.

For Hyper-V HCI deployments, it is highly recommended to use the DataCore Installation Manager for Hyper-V.
Components of DataCore SANsymphony Software

Server Component (Virtualization Component):
This consists of the program files used to run virtualization functions. These components must be installed on all DataCore Servers.

DataCore Management Console Component:
This includes the program files used to run the user interface. The console is used to configure, control, and monitor DataCore Servers. This component can be installed on any computer running a supported operating system. (Note: It is not available for installation on servers running the Windows Server Core Installation Option.) This component is optional during the installation.

DataCore Cmdlet for Windows PowerShell Component:
This component provides the ability to perform storage management activities through the Windows PowerShell command line interface. This component is optional during the installation.
Before Beginning the Installation
- A product license key is not required to install and evaluate this software. However, software activation with a valid product license key is required within 30 days. Failing to activate the software within the trial period will prohibit configuration operations when the trial period expires. (Note that certain software features are disabled or limited in trial mode.)
- Review and ensure that DataCore Servers and hosts are prepared for installation.
