VSS Hardware Provider Installation Notes

• For hosts using Microsoft Cluster Services (MSCS), the Microsoft Distributed Transaction Coordinator (MSDTC) service must be running before installing. Hosts using User Account Control must disable "Run all administrators in Admin Approval Mode" (refer to the local security policy settings of your hosts).
• The name defined in the DataCore Management Console must match the computer name of the host. If using a Hosts file, the host name must also match as well, but do not include any domain suffixes.
• When configuring any host applications that use Windows COM+ applications, the 'user' must be set as the local administrator. The application may need to be restarted for this to take effect.
• TCP Port 3793 must be opened for outbound communication to all DataCore Servers in the server group.
• Microsoft DiskShadow commands must always be run from elevated command prompt.
