Overview

The Rollback Details page provides detailed information about a rollback virtual disk created through Continuous Data Protection (CDP). It allows administrators to view rollback properties, modify settings, monitor performance, and review events associated with the rollback. Information is organized into several tabs that provide access to configuration, connectivity, ownership, and performance data.

A rollback can only be created from a virtual disk that has Continuous Data Protection (CDP) enabled. To enable CDP, go to the Virtual Disk Details page > Settings tab > Advanced Options and select the Continuous Data Protection Enabled check box. See Continuous Data Protection Operations for more information.

A persistent rollback can be made immutable to protect it from modification or deletion for a defined retention period. See Creating Immutable Rollback.

Rollback Details

Information is collected for each rollback virtual disk and displayed in a Rollback Details page. (A summary of all rollbacks for a virtual disk can be viewed in the Virtual Disk Details page > Rollbacks tab.)

At the top of the page is basic information such as size, type (expire or persistent), restore point (data is a logical representation of the source virtual disk at the restore point), rollback source (the virtual disk that the rollback was created from), storage profile. The virtual disk status or rollback status (when in an active rollback state) appears at the top of the page under the rollback icon.

Rollback name and description can be changed at the top of the page by clicking Edit. When changes are made, click Done.

Opening the Rollback Details Page

To open the details page for a rollback:

  1. In DataCore Servers panel or Hosts panel, click on the rollback.

    The details page can also be opened from the Rollbacks tab of the data-protected virtual disk or from any virtual disk list

  2. In the details page, information is organized under tabs (see table). Click on a tab to view the information.

When the Rollback Details page is active, the Rollback Actions tab appears in the Ribbon. See Continuous Data Protection Operations.

Info tab

Displays general information about the rollback: host access, host and state (if served), storage source information, and tier affinity.

The rollback is served to the clients listed. The state of the clients is also provided.

Settings tab

The following settings can be changed:

  • Enabling or disabling write-through for the rollback. Select or clear the Disable write caching check box. When this check box is selected, write caching is disabled and the rollback operates in write-through mode. Write-through can also be enabled at the server level and at the server group level, see Write-Through Mode for more information.
  • Size of the rollback.
  • Allows updating the Compression properties of the rollback.
  • To configure throughput or I/O limits for rollback groups, see Quality of Service.
  • Enable NVMe support for the rollback by selecting the NVMe Namespace checkbox and specifying a Namespace ID within the range 256–65535. The Id value must be unused within the Server Group (i.e., not already assigned to another NVMe Namespace). If the same Namespace ID is already in use, the NVMe settings cannot be applied until a unique ID is specified.
  • Advanced Options:
    • Change the SCSI Standard Inquiry Data used in SCSI operations. This information is returned to the host when discovering devices through SCSI inquiries.

      SCSI Standard Inquiry Data values in Advanced Options should only be changed if necessary and with caution. See Changing Virtual Disk Settings.

Paths tab

Lists paths when the rollback is served to a host.

The following path attributes can be viewed or changed:

  • Initiator and target ports used in front-end paths (between hosts and DataCore Servers).
  • Path connection state and whether the path is enabled or disabled (see Enabled column) is displayed.
  • LUN and access mode (Read/Write or Read Only) can be changed.
  • Paths can be manually added (if sufficient ports exist) or removed, and designated as preferred.

Owned By

Lists the owners of the virtual disk. Ownership determines which users have rights to perform operations on the virtual disk.

Performance tab

Displays real-time performance measurements for the rollback. See Live Performance.

Eventstab

Lists events for the selected rollback. Click an event in the list to view details in the Message Text area at the bottom of the tab. See Event Log and Alerts.
