Modifying Virtual Disks
This section describes the tasks used to modify virtual disks in SANsymphony, including changing settings, managing paths, moving or replacing storage sources, repairing disks, and deleting virtual disks. These tasks help ensure virtual disks remain reliable, efficiently utilized, and properly configured to meet storage requirements.
This section includes the following topics:
- Changing Virtual Disk Settings - Describes how to modify virtual disk settings such as disk size, cache write-through mode, and SCSI inquiry data.
- Converting Virtual Disks to Another Type – Describes how to change a virtual disk type by adding or removing mirrors or converting virtual disks to dual disks.
- Modifying Paths – Describes how to manage virtual disk paths by adding, removing, or changing paths and configuring path access and preferences.
- Replacing/Moving a Storage Source in Virtual Disks – Describes how to replace or move a virtual disk storage source to another pool or server.
- Repairing and Deleting Virtual Disks – Explains how to repair failed mirrored virtual disks by replacing failed storage sources with new ones from healthy disk pools using the Repair-DcsVirtualDisk PowerShell script and automated tasks, and how to safely delete virtual disks to reclaim pool space while handling associated snapshots and rollbacks.
