Removing the DataCore VASA Provider from vCenter
This procedure will remove the VVOLs and their data. It also unregisters the VASA Provider. Ensure the data is backed up before performing these steps if data retention is required.
Follow the procedure to remove a VVOL configuration after setup:
-
Migrate all virtual machines that are currently stored on the VVOL pool / Storage Container to a VMFS datastore with sufficient space to accommodate these VMs in order to remove the configuration and retain the data.
-
Ensure that the VVOLs (vdisks created for the VMs) are healthy and up-to-date. Delete these virtual machines from within vCenter if they are no longer required.
-
In the vSphere web client, remove all storage policies assigned to that Storage Container (SC).
-
If the ESX hosts are in a cluster with HA configured, browse the Storage Container and delete the vdisk called ".vsphere-ha" using the vSphere Windows client.
-
Unmount the VVOL from the vSphere web client (a prompt will appear to remove it from the ESX hosts).
-
Perform an ESX rescan to verify that the VVOL is no longer present.
-
Open the DataCore Management Console and unserve the PE (Protocol Endpoints) from the ESX hosts.
-
Delete the PEs from both DataCore servers in the DataCore Management Console.
-
Un-register the VASA Provider server in the vSphere web client and perform another rescan on ESX.
-
Uninstall the VASA Provider from the ESX host.
