Policy Compliance
When a storage policy is applied to a virtual machine (VM), the VM becomes policy-compliant; if the rules specified in the policy are honored by the storage array. For example, if the Disk Type and the Volume Storage Profile rules in the policy does not match with the actual disk type and/or the volume storage profile of the virtual volume (vVol), then the VM becomes non-compliant.
Similarly, a VM with the replication policy will be non-compliant if:
- Replication is not configured in any of the virtual volumes (vVols) belonging to the VM except swap vVols (which are not replicated).
- Replication is configured, however, to a different Target Site than the one specified in the policy.
- The Replication Status is not “Active” for the vVols present at the replication Source side.
- The Transfer Status of any of the vVols belonging to the VM is not “Healthy”.
