Using Inline Deduplication and Compression with Other DataCore SANsymphony Features

Consider the following limitations when using Inline Deduplication and Compression.

Encryption

• DataCore Inline Deduplication and Inline Compression and Encryption are not compatible.
• DataCore Inline Deduplication and Inline Compression are not supported with SMPA and shared pools.

Post-Processing Deduplication

Inline Deduplication and Compression should not be used in conjunction with DataCore Post-Processing Deduplication.

Snapshots

Snapshots can be compressed if the snapshot destination pool is configured for Capacity Optimization. The same is true for a virtual disk with Continuous Data Protection (CDP) enabled; the history log will not have Inline Deduplication and Compression enabled, nor will a rollback created from the virtual disk. If the rollback is split from the source virtual disk, it will be compressed.
