License tab |
The License tab displays all licensed options and capacity allowances for the server group and individual DataCore Servers in the group. o Storage capacity limits and amounts are displayed per group or per server depending on the software installed on the server. Descriptions are indicated below. o Most options are either Licensed or Not Licensed; notes are included for options with other values. Server Group OptionsThese are options licensed per server group. Storage capacity limits and amounts displayed are per server group. License type: o Trial license - One or more of the servers in the group are using either the 30-day license or an Evaluation base license key. The expiration date is displayed for each server. o Regular license - One or more of the servers in the group are using either a Permanent or Migration base license key. The expiration date for a Migration license is displayed for each server. o Not-for-resale- One or more of the servers in the group are using a Not For Resale (NFR) base license key. The expiration date for a NFR license is displayed for each server. For license expiration date information, see Server Options below. Servers per group displays the maximum number of activated servers allowed in the server group. Servers that have a license status of Not activated (for example, servers running 30-day trial licenses) do not count against this limit until base license keys are activated. See Server Options below. Capacity expansion limit is the maximum amount of storage that can be licensed for the server group at the current license level. o Not applicable to this amount is: · Bulk capacity; there is no limit to the amount of bulk capacity that can be applied to a server group. Current managed capacity is the current total amount of storage that is being managed by SANsymphony software for the server group. The percentage used of the capacity expansion limit amount is displayed in a bar graph. o Applicable to this amount are: · Total capacity of physical disks added to disk pools (non-bulk). Physical disks used as pool mirrors are not counted unless the mirror is larger than the pool disk; in which case, the difference between the pool disk and mirror is counted toward this amount. · Total capacity of pass-through virtual disks created from physical disks. · Total capacity of DataCore Disks added to disk pools (non-bulk), used as pass-through virtual disks, or served directly from DataCore Servers and used as back-end storage. o Not applicable to this amount are: · Managed capacity amounts for Virtual SAN nodes; the amount is displayed for each server. · Managed capacity amounts for Bulk Storage nodes. For more information, see Server Options below. Capacity license activated is the amount of licensed storage activated for the server group. Capacity license in use is the current amount of storage that is being managed by SANsymphony software for the server group. The percentage used of the capacity license activated amount is displayed in a bar graph. o Applicable to this amount are: · Total capacity of physical disks added to disk pools (non-bulk). Physical disks used as pool mirrors are not counted unless the mirror is larger than the pool disk; in which case, the difference between the pool disk and mirror is counted toward this amount. · Total capacity of pass-through virtual disks created from physical disks. o Not applicable to this amount are: · Total capacity of DataCore Disks added to disk pools, used as pass-through virtual disks, or served directly from DataCore Servers and used as back-end storage. · Storage amounts being managed per server on Virtual SAN nodes; the amount is displayed for each server. · Bulk capacity storage amounts being managed; see Bulk capacity in use below. Bulk capacity activated is the amount of bulk capacity that is licensed for the server group and can be managed by SANsymphony software. (There is no limit to the amount of bulk capacity that can be purchased and applied to the server group.)* Bulk capacity in use is the amount of bulk storage that is currently being managed in pools on bulk server nodes in the server group. (See Bulk Storage Pools for more information.) The percentage used in bulk pools compared to the bulk capacity licensed is displayed in a bar graph.* o Applicable to this amount are: · Total capacity of physical disks added to pools on bulk server nodes. Physical disks used as pool mirrors are not counted unless the mirror is larger than the pool disk; in which case, the difference between the pool disk and mirror is counted toward this amount. o Not applicable to this amount are: · DataCore Disks added to bulk storage disk pools Note: Bulk capacity licensing fields are only visible in the tab when the server group is licensed for bulk capacity. *Bulk Storage nodes can be added to server groups with DataCore Servers containing non-bulk disk pools; in this case, Bulk Storage nodes do not count toward the maximum number of servers licensed for the group. Bulk capacity storage amounts are not applied to standard capacity (non-bulk) storage amounts. Bulk capacity is not applicable to Virtual SAN or Max Parallel nodes. Bulk capacity is not enabled or displayed when using a 30-day Trial license. Replication sites is the number of remote server group sites that the local server group can partner with. Server OptionsThese are options licensed per server. Storage capacity limits and amounts displayed are per server. The options and storage capacity displayed depend on the software installed. License expiration: o Permanent license o DD/MM/YYYY (X Days remaining) means that the server is either: · Using a 30-day Trial license. The expiration date on the trial cannot be extended. · One or more of the license keys have been set deliberately to expire (for example with an Evaluation or NFR license keys). In this case the expiration date can be extended if required; contact your DataCore Solution Provider for assistance. o Expired - one or more licenses assigned to this server have expired. Contact DataCore Technical Support for assistance. o Unknown - The server is currently offline and the license expiration status cannot be determined. License status: o Activated - the server has one or more license keys assigned to it. This includes all Permanent, NFR, Evaluation, or Migration license keys. o Not activated - the server has no license keys assigned to it and is using a 30-day Trial license. o License limits exceeded - the configuration is exceeding one or more of its licensed features for this server. Contact DataCore Technical Support for assistance. Maximum retention time is the maximum amount of Continuous Data Protection (CDP) retention time licensed for this server. Capacity license activated is the amount of licensed storage activated for the individual server. o Not applicable to this amount are: · Activated capacity amounts for bulk capacity; bulk capacity is only displayed for the server group. Capacity license in use is the current amount of storage that is being managed by SANsymphony software for the individual server. o Applicable to this amount are: · Total capacity of physical disks added to disk pools (non-bulk). · Bulk capacity storage amounts being managed; bulk capacity is only displayed for the server group. Maximum hosts is the maximum number of hosts (DataCore Servers not included) that can be served virtual disks from that server. This option will not be listed if the number is unlimited. This value will be zero for Virtual SAN nodes. See Hyperconverged Virtual SAN Software for more information. Max replication groups is the total number of servers that can be replicated to or from. License and new product keys can be activated in this page, see Activating the License. |
