Using Inline Deduplication and Compression with Other DataCore SANsymphony Features
Consider the following limitations when using Inline Deduplication and Compression.
Encryption
- DataCore Inline Deduplication and Inline Compression and Encryption are not compatible.
- DataCore Inline Deduplication and Inline Compression is not supported with SMPA and shared pools.
Post-Processing Deduplication
Inline Deduplication and Compression should not be used in conjunction with DataCore Post-Processing Deduplication.
Snapshots
Snapshots created from a virtual disk with Inline Deduplication and Compression enabled will not inherit the compression and deduplication settings; both compression and deduplication will be disabled in the snapshots. The same is true for a virtual disk with Continuous Data Protection (CDP) enabled; the history log will not have Inline Deduplication and Compression enabled, nor will a rollback created from the virtual disk. If the rollback or snapshot is split from the source virtual disk, you can then enable Inline Deduplication and Compression.
