Changing IP Addresses
The instructions in this topic are for changing the IP address without changing the NIC. (If changing a NIC, see Replacing Ports and Adapter Cards.)

If you are using Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) to access the DataCore Servers, you must be logged in as an Administrator.
To change an IP address without changing the NIC:
- Ensure the Connection Interface is set to All.
- Ensure that virtual disk data status is Up-to-Date.
- Change the server IP address in the name resolution mechanism (for example DNS, HOSTS file, LMHOSTS file) that you are using for your network configuration.
- Consider any firewall or IP routing rules that have to be set up or changed to accommodate your IP changes. Update firewall or IP routing rules as necessary.
- The target port using the old IP address may have to be updated with the new IP address:
- Check the iSCSI Initiator Details page>Remote Ports tab of the partner server in the server group, if the port is displayed with a state of Not connected, then right-click the port and select Logout.
- Click Add Target Port and add a port using the new IP address.
- After the port is added, right-click the new port and select Login.
- If the IP address is used to partner with a replication group (for communications) or for replication data transfers, check the IP address to ensure that the change has been updated. If a fixed IP address was used instead of a host name, update the IP address.
- Verify name resolution is working between DataCore Servers and servers with the SANsymphony Management Console installed. All servers should be able to connect to the server group.
- Reset the Connection Interface as desired (if it was previously changed in Step 1).
